What to expect?..Many people are apprehensive about teeth cleanings. The poking and prodding that comes along with A+ Oral Health leaves many putting off cleanings for far too long.
The reality is, a proper teeth cleaning is simple, painless, and will avoid dental issues in the future! You're probably reading this because you're one of the many who are putting off their cleaning due to stress and anxiety - or maybe you're just curious! Either way our experienced team here at Sandro Frangella, DDS will make the process stress free, and you'll be enjoying the results before you know it! |
Step 1: Physical Exam
Teeth cleanings are performed by our skilled Dental Hygienists. All cleanings start with a physical exam where the Hygienist will inspect your teeth and gums for potential concerns like gingivitis. If they detect any major problems they will call in the Dentist to get the green light to proceed with your cleaning! If it's been a while you may get a series of X-rays to check your teeth for cavities. Be sure to let your Hygienist know if you have any questions, or are feeling anxious! They are here for you! |
Step 2: The Cleaning Begins! After a thorough physical exam, the Hygienist will begin removing plaque and tarter from between your teeth and around your gum line. You'll hear and feel the your Hygienist hard at work, but this process is painless!
Tartar and plaque build-up is normal, and exactly why the American Dental Association recommended getting a teeth cleaning at least once a year! Keep in mind, the better you brush and the more often you floss, the less tartar and plaque will build up! Next up is a deep clean with an electric brush. The Hygienist uses high grit toothpaste to gently scrub the remaining tartar left behind, and polish your teeth to squeaky clean perfection. The polishing is followed up with a thorough flossing between teeth to remove any last bit of tartar and plaque build up. And finally, a fluoride treatment. The fluoride treatment is dispensed into a mouth piece which you'll be instructed to bite into for a short period of time. This step protects your teeth and fights against cavities until your next cleaning! |
Step 3: Show Off Your Smile! You did it! We told you it wouldn't hurt!
In just 30-60 minutes, your smile has transformed. Your teeth are brighter, smoother and whiter. Your mouth feels fresh and clean, and your confidence is through the roof. Be sure to schedule your next cleaning with the front desk before heading out to conquer the rest of your day! |
